Is Robin Thicke really suing Marvin Gaye's family? It appears to be true. And that's not all, included in the lawsuit is Bridgeport Music.
So why are they being sued by Robin Thicke? Well apparently both Marvin Gaye's family and the Funckadelics, who's music is owned by Bridgeport Music, claim "Blurred Lines" sounds like stolen music.
In particular Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" and the Funkadelic's "Sexy Ways."
The Hollywood Reporter obtained a copy of the lawsuit which in part states:
"But there are no similarities between plaintiffs' composition and those the claimants allege they own, other than commonplace musical elements," states the lawsuit. "Plaintiffs created a hit and did it without copying anyone else's composition."I've heard of some strange lawsuits before, but to sue someone because they claim you stole their music is a new one. What do you think? Did Robin Thicke rip off Marvin Gaye or the Funkadelics?
